  • Hon’ble Union Minister for MSME Shri K H Muniyappa was the Chief Guest for the Seminar on Defence offset, MSME Network with DPSUs, DRDO and other Public and Large Private Sector Industries organized by SIATI at Bangalore on 19th and 20th July 2013.

  • Under the leadership of Hon’ble Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises, Shri K H Muniyappa, the Mahatma Gandhi Institute for Rural Industrialization (MGIRI) Governing Council Meeting was held at Wardha on December 24th 2013. In this 5th Governing Council Meeting Shri Madhav Lal, Secretary, MSME, Shri Anil Kumar, Joint Secretary, Agro-Rural Industries, Dr. P. B Kale, Director, MGIRI, and other members of MGIRI were also attended.
    Before the Governing Council meeting, Hon’ble MSME Minister unveiled the unique Kasturba Gandhi and Mahatma Gandhi’s statue and also inaugurated the Gandhi Picture Gallery in the presence of Shri. Devendrakumar R. Desai Chairman, KVIC. Moreover, at this occasion, in the presence Hon’ble Minister of MSME, Shri Madhav lal, Secretary, MSME released the Logo of MGIRI here at Gandhi Smriti Bhawan, Wardha.

  • The Hon’ble Union Minister for Micro, Small & Medium Enterprises Shri K H Muniyappa was inaugurated an important international conference on ‘Transcending Arabian Boarder, 2013’ organized by Indo- Arab Chamber of Commerce(IACC) at hotel ITC gardenia, Bangalore on 23 August, 2013.
    The timing of the conference became very significant where India’s total bilateral trade with the Arab countries has reached over US$ 110 billion and the region became home for 4.5 million Indians and caters 70% of our energy imports.
    In his inaugural speech the Hon’ble Minister said, India has traditionally enjoyed close trade and friendly relations with Arab countries. There are important Indian investments in countries stretching from Oman to Egypt, and beyond. Much of our external trade passes along the Suez Canal, the Red Sea and the Gulf of Aden he added.

  • The Hon’ble Union Minister for Micro, Small & Medium Enterprises Shri K H Muniyappa was the Chief Guest at the Foundation Stone Laying Ceremony of a new MSME Technology Centre at Devenahalli, Bangalore on August 4th 2013.

    In his address Hon’ble Minister for MSME Shri K H Muniyappa stated that, Manufacturing has been recognized as the main engine for economic growth. In India, the manufacturing Sector’s contribution towards GDP is over 15%. As per National Manufacturing Policy (NMP) approved by Government of India, the share of manufacturing sector to the GDP should be enhanced to 25 per cent and create 100 million jobs by 2022. However, to have a strong manufacturing base, availability of quality tooling and skilled manpower is absolutely essential and Indispensable. For strengthening tooling facilities and boosting the manufacturing sector, especially the MSMEs, Government of India in the past have established 18 state of the art Technology Centres across the country said Minister.

    To meet the ever growing demand for tooling, the Hon’ble Minister stated, Government of India have launched the scheme titled “Technology Centre Systems Programme (TCSP)”. The objective of the scheme is to establish more Technology Centres in the country to provide technological support to MSMEs, and thereby further strengthening manufacturing sector.

    Hon’ble Minister highlighted that, the State of Karnataka is home for India’s Aerospace industry and the establishment of Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL) in 1940 heralded the aerospace activities in Bangalore. The subsequent establishment of Defence Public Sector Undertakings and R&D institutions like BEML, BHEL, GTRE, NAL, and ISRO positioned the State as a prime location for Aerospace industry in India. The robust growth potential of the industry is attracting OEMs (Original Equipment Manufacturers) in Aerospace sector to set up their ventures in India he added.

    The State has a tremendous potential to emerge as an Aerospace Hub due to the presence of large PSUs, scientific & technical institutes along with their R&D Expertise in aerospace and more than 2000 SMEs which can execute the subcontracting work for the PSUs.

    The Aero Space Policy of Govt. of Karnataka 2012-22 certainly can lead for the overall growth of the industry and thereby creation of employment the Minister underlined.
